The Franklin County Public Library District is acting as the sponsor for the book History Lost to Progress: Fairfield the Town Under the Lake, compiled and written by staff member, Julie Schlesselman and former Fairfield resident, Marilyn Luke Gausman. Julie and Marilyn are in the process of completing this book, and it will be available for purchase in June 2010. This volume will have stories, history and images about the Franklin County town of Fairfield that was destroyed for the construction of the Brookville Dam and Reservoir; it will also address other topics related to the construction project as well, such as Quakertown and the Treaty-Line Museum in Union County, and the Reservoir itself. Deadline for personal story submissions was December 31, 2009. However, donations to help publish the book will be accepted until April 2010. If you were a former resident of Fairfield, or have family that was, and would like to make an honorary or memorial contribution, they can be sent to Julie at the Brookville Public Library, 919 Main Street, Brookville, IN 47012.
